
Kalyna Astrinos is a 2x Emmy winning journalist currently working as a morning and midday anchor on KTNV ABC 13. She anchors Good Morning Las Vegas from 4:30AM to 7AM and 13 Action News Midday at 11AM.
Her news career started in Los Angeles as the afternoon traffic reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News where she spent 8 years reporting traffic on TV & Radio. She also worked as a reporter/anchor at KGTV 10News San Diego and at KBAK/KBFX CBS/FOX in Bakersfield.
Kalyna was awarded a regional Emmy for her role in covering the Black Lives Matter protests in Las Vegas and also earned an Emmy as an Anchor for Best Morning Show. She's received 5 additional Regional Emmy nominations including 3x for Best Anchor Talent, Outstanding Achievement for Morning Show San Diego, and Veteran's Voice a 30-minute military special honoring local servicemen and women.
Her broadcast career began in radio while studying at the University of California, Irvine where she majored in Psychology & Social Behavior. She was a traffic reporter/personality at top radio stations including On-air with Ryan Seacrest on 102.7 KIISFM, The Woody Show on ALT 98.7 and KFI AM 640. During this time, she was also the afternoon traffic reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles.
In Bakersfield and San Diego she pulled double duty, landing her own radio shows while working in TV news. She was middays at HITS 93.1 in Bakersfield and weekends on Z90 while in San Diego.
Her love of storytelling and being a voice for others is what motivates her every day. She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and on the Fullerton College Journalism Advisory Committee. Her background is Puerto Rican, Argentine & Greek and has a natural love for food, culture, and dance. Kalyna lives by the motto, "When was the last time you tried something for the first time?"
